15 of My Favorite Quotes

November 30, 2012
I love quotes. I have an Evernote database of thousands of quotes on every subject imaginable. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you’ve seen hundreds of them.
(Evernote, by the way, is a fantastic free tool I highly recommend. If you’re not using it, you’re missing out. To learn how to harness it’s power, I recommend you read this.)
I add to this collection of quotes daily. Today I thought I’d share 15 of them with you. These people said it far better than I ever could:

“Theaters are full because advertisers lie so well. Churches are empty because we tell the truth so poorly.” – Charles G. Finney

“A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defence of custom. But the tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason.”  – Common Sense pamphlet of January 9th 1776 by Thomas Paine

“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.” – Seth Godin

“You haven’t really trusted God until you’ve attempted something you could never do in your own power.”

“Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.” – John F. Kennedy

“A sailor without a destination cannot hope for a favorable wind.” – Leon Tec

“The man who has a why, can live through almost any how.” – Victor Frankl (neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust-survivor.)

“Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?” – Abraham Lincoln

“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he’s always doing both.”  – James A. Michener

“If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If it’s not, you’ll find an excuse.”

“When people think they have all the answers, it usually means they don’t even know all the questions.”

“Don’t let compliments go to your head. And don’t let insults go to your heart.”

“Those who don’t move don’t notice their chains.” – Rosa Luxemburg

“The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.” – Samuel Johnson

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
