Do you want a better life in 2011? Sure, we all do! But how can we actually make it happen? This is the final installment of a three part series on 3 ways to make 2011 better. The first way is to Address Your Weaknesses. The second way is to Define Your Goals. Here’s the third way:

Nothing changes until you do. The results you’re getting in your life are the result of your actions. Therefore, a change in action equals a change in results.

So the question is, “What new results do you want to see in your life?” Hopefully, you covered this with us in yesterday’s post about defining your goals.

Now that we’ve identified what results we want, we simply have to identify what changes in our habits will bring about those results. “You have not introduced true change into your life until you have changed something you do on a daily basis.”

This is where the rubber meets the road (and where most of us fall short in implementing change). Decide what changes you need to make, and then stick with it! Experts say it takes 21 days to ingrain a new habit. So don’t give up on day 20! Stick with it when it gets tough and you’ll experience these two things:

  1. It will begin to come more natural
  2. You will begin to see the results

We normally think of the word ‘habit’ in a negative light. But actually, our focus should be on the good habits that we can improve and develop.

So ask yourself:

  1. What one bad habit can I break in 2011?
  2. What one good habit can I start in 2011?

Address your weaknesses, define your goals, and change your habits…and you will make 2011 way better!
