I consider myself a positive person. By nature, I am optimistic and generally have a positive outlook on life.
But lately I have caught myself being very negative. It’s so easy to do! Negative thoughts can sneak into our thinking, and soon those thoughts dictate our attitude and are revealed in the words we speak.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. – Luke 6:45
The Negativity Challenge
I want my attitudes, actions, and words to be positive; both for my benefit and the benefit of those around me. So I am challenging myself. I want to see if I can go an entire day without saying anything negative.
Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8
That’s right, 24 hours without saying anything negative. Can I do it? I don’t know, but we’re about to find out.
Would you like to join me? I can think of nothing bad, and a whole lot of good that could come from striving to be positive for an entire day. No derogatory remarks or negative sarcasm. No selfish complaining or whining.
I plan on sleeping most of the day. I think that will increase my chances.
On Monday, I will update you with how it went.
