The One Thing You Should Never Forget

June 13, 2012

God loves you.

Unconditionally. Not based on your appearance. Not based on your performance. Based simply on the fact He picked you to be His child.

He cares deeply for you on a level your human mind will never be able to comprehend.

You were His idea. He created you. He designed every feature of your face. He planned your life and everything you would encounter in it.

He knows you. He knows every thought, and every motive. He knows you better than you know you.

He’s more familiar with your weaknesses than you are. And yet He loves you. He knows your strengths and talents, too…because He’s the one who gave them to you.

You can’t mess up bad enough to make God stop loving you. You can’t fail so many times that He gives up. His love is endless; limitless.

So stop worrying; He’s perfectly in control of the entire universe. There’s not a single detail of your life He doesn’t know about. There’s not a single need in your life He can’t meet. And there’s not a single thing in your future He’s unprepared for.

Listen to the powerful words of this old hymn:

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.
Stop. Slow down. Take a breath. Relax. Listen.

Let God speak to you through these words your reading right now.

Can you hear Him? He’s saying, “Hey…I love you.”

Question: What do you love most about God?
