Of all the things I\’ve read in my life, the following poem may have influenced and blessed me more than anything else (besides the Bible).\r\n\r\nIt was written in 1932 by a pastor in Mississippi named A. M. Overton, who had a wife and three small children. His wife was pregnant with their fourth child but when it came time for delivery, there were complications and both she and the baby died. During the funeral service, the preacher officiating the service noticed my grandfather writing something on a piece of paper. After the service the minister asked him about it, and he handed him the paper with a poem he had just written which he titled, “He Maketh No Mistakeâ€\r\n\r\n
\r\n
He Maketh No Mistake
\r\n
My Father’s way may twist and turn,\r\nmy heart may throb and ache.\r\nBut in my soul I’m glad I know,\r\nHe maketh no mistake.
\r\n
My cherished plans may go astray,\r\nmy hopes may fade away,\r\nbut still I’ll trust my Lord to lead,\r\nfor He doth know the way.
\r\n
Tho’night be dark and it may seem\r\nthat day will never break;\r\nI’ll pin my faith, my all in Him,\r\nHe maketh no mistake.
\r\n
There’s so much now I cannot see,\r\nmy eyesight’s far too dim;\r\nbut come what may, I’ll simply trust\r\nand leave it all to Him.
\r\n
For by and by the mist will lift\r\nand plain it all He’ll make.\r\nThrough all the way, tho’dark to me,\r\nHe made not one mistake.
\r\n

\r\nThis has been such a blessing to me that I wanted to pass it along to you. Who could you pass it along to today that it might be a blessing to?\r\n\r\n*Many thanks to A.M.\’s granddaughter Jean Ann who gave me the accurate history of her grandfather and the origin of these powerful words.
