Powerful principles. Practical application.

Last week I wrote A Letter to Single Ladies because I felt there were just some things they needed to know. This week, my letter is to stay-at-home moms. And it\’s dedicated to the greatest one of them all: my mother.

\r\n \r\n\r\nDear Stay-At-Home-Moms,\r\n\r\nYou know who you are. You’re the ones who have lived through this scenario a million times:\r\n\r\nNaïve Person: “So what do you do?â€�\r\nYou: “I’m a stay at home mom.â€�\r\nNaïve Person: (smiles at you like you’re a five-year-old) “Awww.â€�\r\n

\r\nThese people need a loving pat on the head. With a hammer.\r\n\r\nDon’t mind them. And don’t listen to all the garbage out there about careers and degrees.\r\n\r\nAnyone can sit in a classroom long enough to be given a piece of paper to hang on the wall. Not anyone can cook a meal, burp a baby, answer the phone, clean up a spill, hand a toddler their drink, and fill the dishwasher at the same time.\r\n\r\nThat business world out there they refer to is one that will be dominated soon by the little toddlers you are nurturing and training right now.\r\n\r\nNever worked a day? Ha! You work all day and night. If you were paid financially for what you do, you’d make $112,962 a year. But you’re not paid in money. You’re paid in love.\r\n\r\nAfter the fall in the Garden of Eden, God tasked Adam with the responsibility of working and Eve with the responsibility of bearing children. Somewhere along the way, this setup became extremely unpopular. Our culture decided they knew more than God. As a result, you are becoming more of a rarity. There are less than half as many stay-at-home moms as there were in 1969.\r\n\r\nSo let’s get this straight right now: you are a hero (heroine, actually). You work harder than anyone else on the planet. You are doing more than cleaning up messes and cooking meals; you are creating one of the most beautiful things in the world: a Godly home.\r\n\r\nYou\’re doing more than wiping noses and changing diapers: you\’re nurturing, training, and teaching the next generation.\r\n\r\nThere few things in this world as beautiful a Godly woman who lovingly keeps her house, nurtures her children, and serves her husband.\r\n\r\nSo the world can go ahead and call me old-fashioned and sexist. I don’t care.\r\n\r\nBecause the Bible had it right: your price is far above rubies.\r\n\r\nYou’ll never get the credit you deserve.\r\n\r\nBut here’s one guy, standing up, applauding you.\r\n\r\nSincerely,\r\n\r\nJosh\r\n\r\nP.S.
