\r\n\r\nSo you think you\’re in love? Well let me tell you something, kid.\r\n\r\nLove is not a feeling.\r\n\r\nLove is not a kiss.\r\n\r\nLove is not romance.\r\n\r\nLove is not candlelight.\r\n\r\nLove is not butterflies.\r\n\r\nLove is not sex.\r\n\r\nLove is not like.\r\n\r\nLove, true love, is a decision. A decision that remains when feelings fade. A decision that remains when looks fade. A decision regardless of cost. A decision regardless of health. A decision regardless of what the years bring or take away.\r\n
It\’s devotion, not emotion.
\r\nThe Bible says husbands are to love their wives the way Christ loves the church. Every day for the past fifty-three years I have woken up to the love of God. So every day for the past fifty-three years, my wife has woken up to my love. I\’ll stop loving her when God stops loving me.\r\n\r\nBe prepared, son. To love is to choose the possibility of suffering over safety. Because by loving someone, you give them the ability to hurt you.\r\n
- \r\n
- Love suffers long. (1 Cor. 13:4)
- Love bears all things. (1 Cor. 13:7)
- Love endures all things. (1 Cor. 13:7)

\r\nSound like a joy ride to you? I don’t think so. Sounds like pain.\r\n\r\nSo please. Spare me. You’re not in love. You’re in like.\r\n\r\nYou haven\’t truly loved yet, because it hasn\’t cost you anything.\r\n\r\nCome talk to me when you\’ve been married fifty years. Come talk to me after love has brought you pain. Come talk to me after it has cost you something.\r\n\r\nTrue love hurts.\r\n\r\nJust ask my best friend.\r\n\r\nHe has the scars in His hands and feet to prove it.\r\n\r\n- Anonymous
